Rice is part of the grains (unhulled) which have been separated from the husk. The husks (Javanese merang) are anatomically called 'palea' (part that is covered) and 'lemma' (part that covers). In one of the stages of processing the rice harvest, the unhulled rice is pounded with a mortar or milled so that the outside (grain skin) detaches from its contents. This part of the filling, which is white, reddish, purple, or even black, is called rice. Rice is generally grown as an annual plant. Rice plants can grow to a height of 1 - 1.8 m. The leaves are long and slender with a length of 50 - 100 cm and a width of 2 - 2.5 cm. Edible rice is 5 - 12 mm long and 2 - 3 mm thick.
